How to install LibreOffice 5.2.4 RC2 on Ubuntu 16.04, 16.10

 LibreOffice 5.2.4 is  bugfix release of the 5.2.x branch of LibreOffice which contains new features and program enhancements. As such, the version is stable and is suitable for all users. LibreOffice 5.2.4 version may contain a few annoying bugs which will be fixed in the next bugfix versions to come.

LibreOffice 5.2.4 RC2 Changelog: 

General for this RC: release configuration
  • the Linux and Mac packages can be installed in parallel to LibreOffice 5.1, but not run simultaneously - documents will be opened in the version you've started first.
  • the Windows package will update a previously installed version of LibreOffice
  • LibreOffice 5.2 will be made available as 64bit version in addition to the 32bit version. Installing the 64bit version requires Windows Vista or newer, the 32bit Version runs on Windows XP or newer.

Installation instructions:

Open terminal and insert command line...

$ sudo apt-get remove --purge libreoffice*

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa

$ sudo apt-get update

$ sudo apt-get install libreoffice

Install via package if PPA is not up to date

32bit OS
$ wget

$ tar -xvf LibreOffice_5.2.4_Linux_x86_deb.tar.gz

$ cd LibreOffice_5.2.4.2_Linux_x86_deb/DEBS/

$ sudo dpkg -i *.deb

64bit OS
$ wget

$ tar -xvf LibreOffice_5.2.4_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz

$ cd LibreOffice_5.2.4.2_Linux_x86-64_deb/DEBS/

$ sudo dpkg -i *.deb
