Install Skype 1.9 Alpha released with support for system HTTPS proxy

   Skype  is an application that provides video chat and voice call services. Users may exchange such digital documents as images, text, video and any others, and may transmit both text and video messages. Skype allows the creation of video conference calls. Skype is available for Microsoft Windows, Macintosh, or Linux, as well as Android, Blackberry, and both Apple and Windows smartphones and tablets.

Highlights of Skype 1.9 for Linux Alpha Changelog:
  •     Added the ability to mute notifications from specific conversation

  •     Added dark theme support (Settings->Personalisation->Dark theme)

  •     Added the option to disable emoticons completely

  •     Added support for /me command

  •     Added support for system HTTPS proxy
  •     Improved message quoting - now works even with Ctrl+C
  •     Hovering message time reveals the full date/time as a tooltip
  •     Electron update to 1.3.6
  •     Logger performance and security fixes

 Installation instructions:

    Install Skype 1.9 Alpha on Ubuntu 16.04 (Xenial Xerus), Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf), Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet), Ubuntu 14.04 (Trusty Tahr)
     
   Open terminal and insert command line...


$ sudo apt-get install gdebi

$ wget https://go.skype.com/skypeforlinux-64-alpha.deb

$ sudo gdebi skypeforlinux-64-alpha.deb
