How To Install LibreOffice 5.1.3 on Ubuntu

The Document Foundation has just announced the release of LibreOffice 5.1.3, the third minor release of the LibreOffice 5.1 family, supporting Google Drive remote connectivity on GNU/Linux and MacOS X. LibreOffice 5.1.3 is targeted at technology enthusiasts, early adopters and power users.



LibreOffice 5.1.3 Changelog

  •     DOC import: handle subset of STYLEREF natively
  •     clear cache before disposing rest of VCL
  •     prevent cyclic reference zombies
  •     Bitmap Background exceeds shape borders when PRINTING or PDF EXPORT
  •     RTF import: page number are incorrect
  •     Add Plains Cree language to LibreOffice
  •     FILESAVE: DOCX Table Width Type and Alignment is not preserved
  •     resize image (picture) together with frame does not work
  •     Writer: huge table cell table layout issue
  •     Pasting a whole row with data crashes all open LibO apps
  •     Style formatting overrides direct formatting when using conditional formatting
  •     Changing the paragraph style removes index entries
  •     VIEWING: OpenGL text rendering performance
  •     Font colour icon in sidebar disappears when changing font colour
  •     EDITING: Image moving and anchoring erratic behavior on text body style

Install LibreOffice 5.1.3 on Ubuntu Linux OS instructions:

Open terminal and insert command line...

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa

$ sudo apt-get update

$ sudo apt-get install libreoffice

Optional, to remove librecad, do:


$ sudo apt-get remove --purge libreoffice*
