Installation instructions:

   The GetDeb repository contains the latest packages of Docear, available for Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 16.10, and derivatives.

Opening terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and running the command:

Ubuntu 16.04 xenial

$ sudo sh -c 'echo "deb xenial-getdeb apps" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list'

$ wget -q -O- | sudo apt-key add -

$ sudo apt-get update

$ sudo apt-get install

Ubuntu 16.10 yakkety

$ sudo sh -c 'echo "deb yakkety-getdeb apps" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list'

$ wget -q -O- | sudo apt-key add -

$ sudo apt-get update

$ sudo apt-get install


  1. Is there a link for Linux Mint

  2. Mint currently uses Xenial
    To check you distro and kernel:
    $ cat /etc/os-release

  3. Above procedure was tried for Ubuntu bionic. It didn't work for LXDE

  4. $ sudo sh -c ‘echo “deb bionic-getdeb apps” | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list’

    I found error: “deb: 1: “deb: ‘echo: not found
    on my ubuntu 18.04
